ROOM TO BEGIN

You don't need to have it
all figured out to reach out.

Maybe the same argument keeps happening. Work is taking more than it gives. A health issue has changed your plans. Or you're doing what you're supposed to do, but aren't sure it's what you want. We can start right there.

FINDING SUPPORT

Real life.
Real conversations.

Space to be honest, understand your patterns, and practice a different way forward. You don't need the perfect words.

Talk about what you need
01

Relationships & communication

Saying what you mean, listening without shutting down, navigating conflict, and setting boundaries. Individual support for how you show up in your relationships.

02

Life changes & medical experiences

Adjusting when illness, an injury, or a difficult medical experience changes your routines, relationships, or sense of yourself. Room for the human side of what you've been through.

03

Work pressure & everyday stress

Making space beyond responsibilities and expectations. Exploring limits, coping skills, and what a more sustainable pace could look like.

04

Purpose & direction

Getting clearer about what matters to you—whether you're facing a decision, entering a new chapter, or feeling a little stuck.

MEET YOUR COUNSELOR

Hi, I'm Josh.

A real conversation is a good place to start.
Washington State Certified Counselor · CCC.CL.70172371

I want counseling to feel like a place where you can show up as yourself—not perform, have all the answers, or know exactly what to say. I'm especially interested in supporting men with relationships, communication, and the pressures that can be hard to talk about.

I'm also interested in the human side of medical challenges: how health changes can affect identity, independence, relationships, and daily life. That is one part of my focus, alongside work, communication, and figuring out what comes next.

I earned my bachelor's degree in psychology at Washington State University and practice under a supervision agreement with Bill Stoner, LMHC. My approach is conversational and practical: listening, noticing patterns, building skills, and identifying manageable next steps.

When helpful and comfortable for you, we can use simple breathing, grounding, or noticing tension in your body. Nothing elaborate or forced—just another way to pause and reconnect with yourself.

Certified Counselor is a distinct Washington credential, not a Licensed Mental Health Counselor credential. My services do not include diagnosis or psychotherapy. I work within my training and scope, and help connect you with other care when appropriate.

Who do you work with?

I offer one-on-one counseling for adults, with a particular interest in working with men. You don't have to be a man to reach out. Clients need to be physically in Washington during sessions. Relationship work here is individual counseling, not couples counseling.

What are the fees? Do you accept insurance?

A 50-minute session is $90, and the 15-minute introductory consultation is free. This is a self-pay practice; I do not bill insurance or guarantee reimbursement. Payment is due on the session date, using the card-on-file arrangements you authorize. No prepaid package is required.

You have the right to a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges when you are not using insurance. You'll receive an individualized estimate as required, and you may request one before scheduling. Learn about your estimate rights (opens a new tab) ↗

What if I need to cancel?

Please provide at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations and missed counseling appointments have a $90 fee, which may be waived for emergencies. The free consultation has no cancellation or no-show fee.

How do online sessions work?

Appointments take place by video through Sessions Health. Before we begin, you'll receive instructions and complete your intake and consent forms through the client portal. You'll need a private space, a reliable internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone. Please don't attend while driving.

We'll confirm your current location and callback number at each session and discuss what to do if the connection drops. There are currently no in-person appointments.

What is a Certified Counselor?

A Washington Certified Counselor provides counseling within a defined scope, including screening, guidance around life situations, skill-building, and desired changes. This is different from an LMHC credential and does not authorize diagnosis or psychotherapy. I'll discuss fit and referrals with you when your needs call for a different level of care.

Do you use AI during sessions?

I plan to use TalkPilot to support transcription, notes, and in-session prompts. This is part of the planned service, not a substitute for my judgment. Before any use, we'll discuss a separate consent explaining cloud processing, retained transcripts, and your choices. The provider states it does not store audio, but audio is transmitted for processing; transcripts are retained.

No AI capture starts without your consent. If you don't want AI involved, please bring that up during the free consultation. An ongoing AI-free service is not currently offered; we can discuss other options.

What should I include in my first message?

Your name, a safe way to reach you, and a request to connect are enough. Please don't send medical records, detailed personal history, or sensitive health information by ordinary email. Established clients can use the secure portal. Routine replies are generally within two business days, excluding weekends and holidays.

What if I need urgent support?

This practice is not an emergency or crisis service, and calls, emails, and portal messages are not continuously monitored. In the U.S., call 988 or text 988 for crisis support. For immediate danger or a medical emergency, contact emergency services or go to the nearest emergency department.
